Daehanmoodo
Daehanmoodo is in a traditional martial art based on the mighty combinations of Taekwondo, Hapkido and Judo.
Taekwondo, the popular new Olympic event, is known for its powerful kicking and striking techniques.
Hapkido is a highly sophisticated martial art based on mirroring and redirecting an opponent's energy. Joint manipulation, pressure points, and circular motion are the characteristic tools of Hapkido.
Judo is an age-old art that is best summed up in the axiom 'maximum effect for minimum effort.' Here we learn to use our bodies leverage to overcome our opponents both while standing and on the ground.
More than just a system of self-defense, our program becomes a way of life, which promotes social responsibility, inner harmony, physical health and personal excellence. All of this is accomplished in a positive atmosphere of excitement and fun, including a tremendous character development program for children too!
Whether you've never taken a martial art class or you're a black belt looking for a new place to train, we've got you covered! Our experienced instructors will work with you at your level. We'll help you to improve your physical fitness and technique all while learning self defense skills and growing into the best version of yourself.

Absolutely not! Wherever you are on your fitness journey, martial arts can be adapted to work for you. The hardest part of martial arts is walking into the building for the first time. Once you take that step, we'll be there for you the rest of the way.
Yes, all of our martial art classes, except for cardio kick-boxing, require you to wear a uniform. This is for many reasons, but most importantly, for safety. Inherently, there is a lot of physical contact in martial arts so we need to ensure whatever you are wearing will not hurt you or your partners while training.
Yes, all of our martial art programs, except for cardio kick-boxing, use a belt system for ranking. This allows our instructors to determine how to most effectively help each person in the class.
We require that all students attend a minimum of 2 classes/week. Adults may attend as many more as they would like.
Each program is different and since we love it when the whole family trains, we'll happily give you a family discount. Give us a call (860) 646-7993 or send us a message and we'll give you all the information you need.
There is no best martial art. Each martial art has a characteristic style and traditional techniques but there is broad overlap between them. You may find that you enjoy specific aspects of one more than another - say sparring vs grappling, or kicking vs punching, but all martial arts have an immense amount of benefit to give. If you're unsure of what style to take, watch a few different classes and see what interests you the most. Our Daehanmoodo program is a mixture of taekwondo, hapkido, and judo so it gives you a wide variety of styles to try.
No problem! Send us a message, or give us a call (860)-646-7993, or simply stop by The Academy and we'll be happy to help you out.
